YEAR ONE | NOVEMBER 30, 2019

Another Legacy Campaign initiative has been completed and was already utilized by Village Christian students to ring in the Christmas season.

The new performing arts stage had its opening night on December 10 during our High School Christmas Showcase concert in the Kendall Pavilion. Two days later, it was used during the Middle School Christmas Showcase as well.

“The new stage not only enhances the performance experience in the Auditorium, it can also be used in various forms in other venues,” said Director of Fine Arts Natalie Taylor. “Currently, our ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ cast is rehearsing on the new stage in the Auditorium. It’s an amazing upgrade for our performing venues.”

Being able to customize the stage presents enormous benefits, which was made possible thanks to “Name A Seat” sponsorships and the VCS Patron’s Club, which took on this initiative as a fundraising focus this year.

For the stage, twenty-four heavy-duty platforms are each 4 feet by 8 feet and have numerous configurations. They can also be set at different heights.

The platforms feature an interlocking mechanism that keeps them stable during rigorous performances, also making them perfect for dance and theatre productions.

“The quality of these platforms is outstanding,” said Director of Facilities Mike Custer. “They are built to last and will serve the school well for many years.”
